Update!!!

I brought the dress back and they gave me a new one!!!! ;)

Now, I have another formal event coming up.  I need another dress or...do I dare hope I can fit into the one that I bought in April?!?!?!??!  What would I need to do.
Six weeks.
Would six pounds make it look better?  Maybe.
I would really, really like to wear that dress.



I think 10 pounds would do it.
I can do that.
But maybe I'll buy a new one just in case?

A week of walking

After going to fat camp and spending so many hours running, walking, swimming, and in the gym, I never thought I'd be celebrating walking for 15 minutes for 7 days in a row.  But that is how basic this has all become to me.


My goals for tomorrow are:
 - 3 glasses of water
 - healthy lunch
 - 15 minute walk

Now, I should be walking the Tan tomorrow but even so, I have really started back at the base.  But you have to start somewhere.  I have made reservations with my knee surgeon so hopefully that will help with the physical side of things.

Now...to attack the mental side!!!!

Anyone have new recipes?

I made a really plain, basic pasta the other night.  Obviously, the starchy carb noodles had calories. But I filled the bowl with chicken and broccoli and the sauce was just a bit of chicken broth with salt and pepper.

I am looking for new recipes that people love so share if you have a favorite.

Mad about sooooo many things

I had a big awards ceremony the other night and I am so mad that I can't wear this beautiful formal dress I bought two years ago.  I have never worn it and it is gorgeous. (size 16)

Knowing that awards season was coming, I bought a new dress in April.  I went to try on the new formal dress and it didn't fit.  So, I have the dress I bought last year and the dress I bought this year and can't wear either!  I was so mad! The weight is going straight to the middle of my body. I just couldn't believe it. (size 18)

I had to have a dress so I bought ANOTHER dress a few days ago.  It fits.
I threw it in the wash and completely shrunk it.  (size 20)
It doesn't fit anymore!
I am so mad.

If you're going to be stuck at an airport...

The good news is that while I was stuck in MEL due to high winds in Sydney, Qantas club has some delicious options.  I did a really good job for breakfast and ate the bircher museli and added nuts and seeds.  SUPER HEALTHY.  Probably a bit on the high calorie side of things but a nutritious choice.

Unfortunetly, we ended being stranded almost four hours and then what happens?  Tea.
And then what happens.  Cookies.
I only had two which is a record small number for me.
Celebrate the little wins.

Strategies

One of the many programs I am following is giving me a 30 day kick start.  Here is a list of the things they want us to concentrate on.  I am willing to give it a go.

- OPTIMIZE YOUR FEEDING AND FASTING WINDOW
- CONSUME CALORIES TOWARDS THE BEGINNING AND MIDDLE OF DAY
- HAVE A CONSISTENT MEAL TIME
- LESS SNACKING
- UP YOUR WATER INTAKE!!!!!!!  (I'M TRYING!!!!!!!!)
- STOP THE PROCESSED FOODS
- EAT DAILY CONSISTING SOLELY OF UNREFINED WHOLE FOODS

Funny Friday

Who doesn't love Pooh? :)  But you don't realise that you like doing squats until you can't do them. This darn knee of my mine hurts when I squat.  I am going back to the surgeon for more cartiledge injections.  SQUATS DO PAY OFF!!!! :)

Why can't I drink water?

If anyone has any other ideas, I will take them but I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of and I still can't even get in three glasses of water a day.  I know it would help with my hunger, help with internal digestion and many other things.  I have tried:

 - Keeping a bottle next to the bed
 - Keeping a bubba on my desk
 - Try to remind myself prior to meal time
 - Forcing water before bed
 - Adding fruit and herbs to the water

NOTHING HELPS.

Last week, I made a rule.  If I have a tea,  I need to have a water but that just doesn't last because I forget or I am too cold.  At least spring is on the way!

What does a healthy birthday celebration look like?

Carl came over for a birthday dinner and we were both being healthy, so I planned the menu accordingly.  I made healthy pizzas and as always, they were delicious.  We had a meat and a vegetarian.  And then in lieu of cake....I made this BEAUTIFUL fruit plate.  It doesn't look as good in the picture. :)

I had dark chocolate dipped strawberries, kiwi drizzled with chocolate and sweet black grapes.  I had also bought mango but we were too full on this plate so I didn't even cut it.  It really was delicious and a nice celebration.

How many programs can I join?

I will keep joining until something works!  I just bought "Walk for Weight Loss" from the itunes store on my iphone.  If anyone else is on it, let me know so we can "friend".  I am hoping that by adding more speed intervals that it will up my progress.  According to the program, if you are a beginner (which I am saying I am) I need to walk 7 days a week.  You get to drop to 5 days a week when you actually need a rest.  This is 15-60 minutes/day. Let's go!

Sunday Weigh In

Well, it is now a pow but a wimper, but I'll take it.  Lost .6 but am still over 250.
My big challenge this week is travel on Thursday and Friday.  I don't have any client meetings so I should be able to control my habits a bit better.  And I am traveling with someone so maybe that will help me stay away from the cookie jar in Qantas club!!!!

Friend or Foe?

If your friends want to do social things with you, how do you decide if they can be trusted as "healthy" friends?  After 49 years, I am still afraid of hurting feelings when I go out for dinner.  I met some friends out who I hadn't seen in a few years.  My plan was to be very good, no alcohol and smart dinner.  Well, I had one cocktail and a TON of food AND DESSERT.  It is possible that I just can not go out socially if I can't make wise choices????

Cravings...nothing more than cravings

For the first time EVER in my life, I went to the cafe and CRAVED the kale, green salad with poached egg.  It wasn't that it was the healthiest thing on the menu, it was because I reviewed the menu and that is what I wanted to order.  More than a cheeseburger.  More than fries.  And, I'm thinking to myself, "maybe this is it."  I finally am a thin person in a bigger body.  That lasted two days.  
Two short days later, I lay in bed craving Tim Tams and ate 8 or the 11 cookies.  Now, this would normally send me spinning but I threw away the last three cookies and DID NOT dig them out of the garbage. So, that has to count for something.  Doesn't it?

So, I gained this week and I wasn't upset at all. While that should be a good thing, I think it is a bad thing.  It should be good because I shouldn't be freaking out about the scale and the numbers. But I am thinking it is because I took my mind off of my goals this week and I was down on that.

Either way - the scale is a fact, and I am up.

I'm pretty sure I have never put down my actual weight on my drivers license.  Starting from when I was 16 years old.  Ok...not pretty sure.  Confirming, I have never entered the correct weight.
