"At my signal, unleash hell."

Tomorrow I unleash the hell.

1 hour of working out every day.
1200-1300 calories/day.  (I changed this to a range because I have to hit at least 1200 a day to stay healthy so to give myself that planning help, I added the range.)  Believe me, 1300 still isn't big meals!
And, today I committed to Kelly and Nick that I would give up grog for the month.  (no champers at the races!!!)

29 days.
If I did the math right, I should lose 2.4 lbs/1kg per week.
2000 - I burn this on a one hour exercise day
1200 - calories I will eat in a day
800 - is the saved calories per day
400 - is what I can burn in an avg hour with exercise
1200 - is the saved calories per day
8400 - is saved cals *7 days a week
2.4 - is that divided by 3500 calories
(Did I do it right?)

It was difficult to do at Fitness Ridge so I know it will be challenging on my own.  But everyone is super supportive.  Yea for me.

"I'm just one stomach flu away from my goal weight"

Now that we have the new scale, I can't stop weighing myself.
Which is stupid, I know.
And, it is making me nuts because it never says what I want.

GOAL - do not weigh myself until Sunday.

*Emily Blunt, The Devil Wears Prada
Actually, there are a few great quotes that I could use but I don't want to duplicate movies in my titles, so here goes:

Andy Sachs: So none of the girls here eat anything?
Nigel: Not since two became the new four and zero became the new two.
Andy Sachs: Well, I'm a six...
Nigel: Which is the new fourteen.

Emily: You don't deserve them, I mean you eat carbs, for Chrissake!

Emily: Really? It's for Paris, I'm on this new diet. Well, I don't eat anything and when I feel like I'm about to faint I eat a cube of cheese.

"All right, ramblers, let's get ramblin'."

I am so scared.  This is the big week on the c25k program.  Within the next three runs, I will be running at my blistering 7km/hr pace for 20 minutes straight.  When I finish my program, it will take me 36 minutes to do my 4k.

Then, do I start the c25k program over at 7.5k?  Or 8k?
Tim (at work) says I need to do sprints to improve my speed but how do you do that?  Must look online.

btw - I was overwhelmed by the amount of people willing to do FABULOUS FEBRUARY.  ... ... NOT!

"I am big! It's the pictures that got small."

FABULOUS FEBRUARY IS COMING!

I am going to go hard core for February.  1200 calories a day and one hour of exercise every date.

I want to put a whole bunch of rules (no alcohol, 8 glass of water, etc) I want to accomplish but I have decided to keep it simple.

Right now, my diet is 1200-1800 so this is taking out a lot of sanity for me.
I am exercising between 30-60 minutes/day.  So, this should be doubling my calorie exertion on my most days with no rest days.

I thank you in advance for your support but you can really support me by doing it too!  Come on!  Let's make Feb Fab!  (I did pick the shortest month of the year.)

The blog titles will be famous movie titles until the Oscars.

"I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"

I know that I promised that all scalegate issues would end once we got the new scale.  Oh.... they have just started.  All I want is a stupid scale that will give me an accurate weight.  My new Tankia scale arrived today and the results were -

I was up by 11.6 lbs/5.3kg
Carl was up by 3 lbs/1.4kg
Andrew was up by 3.7 lbs/1.7kg

So, you think, maybe... the scale is off the more you weight, but:
1 - Carl weighs more than Andrew
2 - There is NO WAY I weigh the total on the new scale
3 - This is suppose to be an accurate scale
4 - I weighed myself at the doctors today and it was 6.6 lbs/3kg less

I AM OVER IT!!!!

I guess I will just keep the higher weight scale and use that?  But an 11 pound difference!?!?!?

So, here is my plan.  Sunday is my weigh-in day.  I am going to officially weigh-in on Sunday using the new scale.  I will update the blog with the new weight because I would rather be over than under.

Carl and I hopping on the scales.  He is on the old one and I am on the new one.

DARN!!!!  I've seen the new, bad, not accurate results.

Need to kick it up

I got the 4k fun run newsletter today and according to them, I need to be running twice a week now and starting three times a week for the next month to be in shape for the race.

I have been letting that third run go every week which is why I am still only on week 4 of the c25k.  I only get two in every week.

New goal - ensure I am getting my full running week in so that I am easily able to do the 4k.

Anniversary just passed

I forgot to comment but for those who look at my sidebars... it has been 6 months without McDonalds.

I have definitely gotten over the hurdle where I don't think about it anymore.
Unless I am busy and it is lunch time and I walk past it.
Or, I am craving a Quarter Pounder with fries and a carmel sundae.
Or, I am in a salty fatty food mood.
Or, I see a commercial.
Really, it is mostly when I am busy and don't think I have time to get a better food choice.  But, I do and I have.

I really don't think about it as much anymore.

Its a beautiful day (sung to U2 song)

Instead of going to the gym, went to the ocean and walked the beach for an hour.

The exercise was fun and I really mean it.
Downside is you think you are looking good until you see yourself in a swimsuit!!!

Does anyone have a phone number for NASA?

Is it possible that I could weigh less in the southern hemisphere than I do in the northern hemisphere?

According to our scale, I have lost another .7kg or 1.5 pounds this week.  Normally, I would be THRILLED!  But, due to scalegate, I just can't get excited.  How much do I weigh???  Did I really lose 1.5 pounds?  I was SUPER good this week, but who knows?

I haven't updated my total weight loss on the blog as I am waiting for our new scale to arrive.  (hopefully in the next day or two)  The new scale will be the official weight loss even though the earth's gravitational force is obviously causing a lower number to appear in Point Cook, Australia.

I am not talking to the Pookeys

Andrew came home with a Women's Fitness magazine for me which I thought was super sweet until I found what he kept for him and Carl.  Take a look at the Men's Fitness magazine!!!

Everyone knows that SoA is my new fav show and that I LOVE Jax!  He is my second fav pastey Brit.  (Sorry PB!  I mean guys!)

Anyway, I loved the article.  (Riiiiiiight.  I read it for the articles.)  Charlie said - I'm happier, more confident and more positive when I work out.  When I didn't feel like going to the gym today I thought of two things:
1 - why not?  I LOVE exercising now.
2 - I am more confident and positive when I work out.

I love you Charlie!

Easy Rider

I am lucky that I never had to ask for an extender for the seat belt for a plane.  (Riding on a plane is humiliating enough when you are big!)  But, I always had to use the entire seat belt - right to the end.

Well, this business trip, I had extra belt available!!!

And, my bum/arms, etc did not touch the person next to me.  I was wholly in my own seat.  (Granted, I was sitting next to Jeff, who is a little guy.)  But I will take what I can get.

I did not pass the test.

I ACED the test!
Not only did I go to the gym at the hotel this morning, but I went last night before dinner as well!  I went to the hotel gym TWICE!

Last night I was waiting for the bosses to finish their meeting before dinner.  So, I told them I was going to do a quick treadmill and meet them in an hour.  So, I get upstairs and realise I do not have my ipod.  UGH. Now, I have to run without music?  I decided to run for as long as I could at my new 7kph pace.  So, I lasted 7 minutes which I thought was pretty good.  So, I was going to walk for the next 23 minutes.  But then... my CEO walked in.  I can't look like a loser and be walking so now I start running again because I want to look like a runner and am going at a higher pace than my C25K!  I am cra-cra!  Finally I finish.

Got up this morning and straight to the gym for treading Thursday.

BTW - Did you know how busy hotel gym's are?  Who knew?

The Test

Tomorrow I leave on a business trip to SYD for the day.
I will go to the gym before my flight.
I will bring my workout clothes with me.

The test is will I actually get up the next morning and work out at the hotel?

I have brought workout clothes with me so many times and NOT done a workout.
But it will be treading Thursday.
C'mon V!!  Get up and do it.

HATE is a strong word

I was talking to Scab yesterday and mentioned that "I just HATE exercising" and he asked me why.

Really?  Why?  Doesn't everyone hate exercise?

The more I thought about it, the more I thought that I don't hate it.  You feel like you are accomplishing something when you are doing it.  You feel good or great after you do it.  Is it that I just don't want to get up in the morning?  or afternoon?  or change clothes?  or take up TV time?  or movie time?  or reading time?

I thought about this while I was at the gym this morning and I don't hate it.  I don't know what my feeling is right now.  I need to think about this a bit more.

Maybe I am an exercise junkie but just didn't know it!

1000 calories or bust

One of the ladies who was at fat camp with me emailed recently that she does not leave the gym until she reaches 1000 calories burned.  I thought I would give this a try on Sunday for a really great positive start to the week.

The good news is that the 49ers-Saints game was on and I just got on the elliptical and did not get off for an hour and a half.  Then I did some weights, squats and walking on the treadmill.

I did not even get to 500 calories!  BUST!
My metabolism sucks.  I know that there are worse metabolisms out there, but geesh, it would be good to go and burn a quick 2000.

I am trying to stay positive that just going to the gym on Sunday for a solid workout is great - which it is.  But... you know that is crap, right?

Signed up for a 4K today

I know... but, I can't find a 5K.  I swear!
Co-worker Tim didn't believe me so he went searching for 5ks and came up with very few options for the year and no real options for Feb.

Anyway, I am signed up.
Yea.
Now I have to run it.

Friday, 13 January 2012

I registered for a 4k today

It is on 26 February.
Right now, I know I can complete it.  It is the time that is the problem.  I don't want to finish in 95 minutes having completed it by doing the technical definition of running.

I want to have a decent time.
30 minutes would be the BEST but I am not training at that time anymore.
Kelly is down from Hong Kong and is running with me so maybe she will get me a few minutes in my time.

Thursday, 12 January 2012

It is Thursday...

Did you tread today?
I did.

5 min at 7km/hr
4 min at 7.1
3 min at 7.5
2 min at 7.6
1 min at 8
30 sec at 9
30 sec at 10

C25k - Week 3, Day 1

If you have never done the Couch to 5k, it is basically starting at nothing and working your way up to running a 5k.  Run 1 min, Walk 1 minute for the first week.  (or whatever it is)

I started week 3 today and felt pretty good.  I think it is 8 minutes running, 22 minutes walking.

I need to step it up because I think Pookey has signed me up for a 4k in a few weeks.  Not sure why it isn't a 5k, except the Aussies are nuts.

Back to the Gym

First day back and hit the gym.  I did a mountain class.  (increase in speed or resistance every three minutes)

Tomorrow I will get back on the C25k.  YIKES!  That is going to be painful

Thursday is Treading Thursday.

I need to schedule a 5k so I have something to train towards.  Goals are good.

scalegate continues

So, I get back to Melbourne and the first thing I do is weigh myself and... according to the pookey scale, I have lost .5kg since I left.

There is no way!
I ate xmas cookies every day.

So, I am off to buy the most expensive, most accurate scale I can find this weekend.  Then we will really see the tears when I weigh each week.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

I am leaving the States in a few hours and the vacation is over.  My official weight will be recorded upon returning to AUS.  But, what about scalegate?  What scale do I use?  I am assuming they have one at the health club so that is probably safest.

So, if you live in AUS, let me know how you are going to help me.  Are you going to go to a class with me?  Make me a salad?  I think my weight loss has to be a community effort.  It takes a village!

My plane goals are:
1 - do not buy extra choclate for the plane ride.
2 - drink only water as my beverage (unless I get bumped up to 1st class and then I get one glass of french)

Are Dunkin Donuts low GI?

So, this morning I was all set to start out the new year healthy and Scab brought Dunkin Donuts for brekkie.  I couldn't resist.

The good news is that I tracked it AND I was still under 200 calories for the day!

Bring on the donuts!!!!!!!

New Year, New Goal

Happy 2012!
WOW!  I am so excited that I can look back at this year with such a positive feel and positive outcome!  And while 2011 was great for my weight loss, I am confident that 2012 will be the YEAR OF THE SKINNY GIRL!

My goal is to lose 52 pounds which is one per week.  That is 23.6kg for the Aussies.
I do have a secondary goal of running a 5k in August under 40 minutes.
I have a third goal of doing planks everytime I watch tv.  Hmmmmm.  Not sure about that one.
