Sunday Weigh In
The slippery slide has stopped!!!!!
https://giphy.com/gifs/applause-happy-excited-Ftz07proVX6Rq
I lost EIGHT pounds this week. Now, I am sure most of this was water. But I am just so excited to be going back in the right direction. It is such a relief!
Things that went right -
- I did eat well when I could
- My appetite did seem to go down
- My sugar in take was way down

Funny Friday
I don't want to give anything away, but since I started the ACV...no cravings! I have not had a sugar craving all week. I am rocking the scale on Sunday. Exciting.

"Today was a good day" - Ice Cube
Today was like one of those fly dreams
Didn't even see a berry flashing those high beams
No helicopter looking for a murder
Two in the morning got the fat burger
Even saw the lights of the Goodyear Blimp
And it read Ice Cube's a pimp (yeah)
Drunk as hell but no throwing up
Half way home and my pager still blowing up
Today I didn't even have to use my A.K.
I got to say it was a good day
- I have gone three days with absolutely no knee pain
- I am off the prescription anti inflammatory
- I have not had a dessert in four days!!!! (Could this be a record?)
- I feel great
- The scale looks great and I can't wait to weigh in on Sunday
Is it the Apple Cider Vinegar?
The AMAZING sun and hot weather?
Challenges? I fly out today for two long days in Sydney. Lots of socialising.
But today, Ice Cube was right. Today was a good day.

Planning and preparing
I am taking time to plan and prepare this week. One of the things I've wanted to do for weeks is start taking apple cider vinegar. Vinegar has been used for medicinal reasons for centuries. And, I do believe that my stomach would benefit from a vinegar drink.
https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/6-proven-health-benefits-of-apple-cider-vinegar
With this in mind, I have planned and am now drinking a berry apple cider vinegar drink. It is tart but very refreshing. I am not sure if it will really aid in weight loss, but I do feel this is a healthy thing for me to do.
It is 2 tablespoons fresh or frozen berries. Muddled. Add 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar with "the Mother" and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Fill glass with ice and water.
1 - Muddle 2 TBS of frozen berries.
Add 1 TBS of Apple Cider Vinegar
Add one tablespoon of lemon juice
Fill the glass with ice
Fill the glass with water
I am going to make the mixture this afternoon and keep in the fridge for the week. Just take out four TBS of mixture and add ice and water. I think this will work.

More blog reviews
Right now, I am reading old blog posts to try and inspire me. So, I looked back to this week in 2011. And I was gob smacked on what I found! I completely forgot that I went back to fat camp at xmas to keep my weight loss going. I was losing and I just wanted to keep on losing. How great is that? Now I go back to try and turn things around.
Then I went back because I loved that I was this type of person who wanted to go back and keep fit.
I want to be that person again.
My knees don't affect what I put in my mouth!
My knees don't stop me from swimming or doing upper body workouts.
This can be turned around!!!!
My first day back is absolutely inspiring!
Nov 2011
Back at Biggest Loser and my first day was absolutely exhausting. I did three cardio workouts, toning class, swimming pool class, lecture on budgeting calories and I am skipping my final class right now as I can not keep my eyes open. I am going to bed and it is 6:41pm.
Food was good today. It is cold here and we had chili with corn bread with a piece of pineapple for dessert.
Yes, this is a fake running picture. I don't look miserable so it can't be real.

Monday Motivation
I thought instead of a meme for Monday Motivation, I would look back to a Monday post from years back to see what my one of my motivational posts would be and here it is. From 1 March, 2012, The title of the post was:
I ran ugly, I ran technical definition but, in the words of Flock of Seagulls, I RAN.
I ran ugly, I ran technical definition but, in the words of Flock of Seagulls, I RAN.
This is my first race which was only a 4k but it was really difficult for me. Kelly came down from HK and ran with me. Re-reading how supportive my friends were AND STILL are was and is still VERY INSPIRING! I know you all want me to be successful. I want to be successful too. Here is the post:
The 4k was this past Sunday on a ridiculously hot Melbourne day. I think
it was about 90*/35*.
My first goal was to finish the race without stopping - ACCOMPLISHED!
This was particularly difficult when you had a hill before the last 1km. That hill was definitely run at the technical definition of running.
My second goal was to finish the race in under 40 minutes - ACCOMPLISHED!
But, I didn't keep to my c25k pace which would have had me finish in 34 minutes.
My official race time was 38:04.
I think when I talk about how crabby I am when I run, no one believes me. But, Kelly is now a firm believer. All the way from Hong Kong to run with me and I wouldn't run next to her, talk to her and if she tried to point something out, I growled at her. I am not fun to be around and I don't really like people next to me when I run. Having said that, I couldn't have done it without her. I know it was a really slow pace for her to keep but she did and I did.
I was a little disappointed with how I pulled up. I thought since I had been training, I would be in a bit of a better place, but I wasn't. We needed to leave immediately after the race as I thought I was going to be sick and there was no escaping the sun. (HUGE APOLOGIES to Cara and Mich!!!!! I hate it when everyone doesn't wait around but that was not going to happen!)
There were a few other mishaps, (water tank issue!!!) but for the most part it was a really great morning and everyone came over for brekkie afterwards. (thanks to Pookey and Hookah for the help)
When is the next race? :)

Sunday Weigh In
I can't even describe what is happening to me right now. I have GAINED 11.6 pounds in the past month!!!!! It is like my body has found an express route to gaining weight. This is crazy. I have gained back almost all of my fat camp weight in just two months. I am not eating an extra 1500-3000 calories per day! What can I commit to this week? Almost all of my meals are eating out. This is ok.
1 - no alcohol
2 - breakfast at home if not a client brekkie (my protein shake)

Todd has asked the million dollar question - "Why don't I get new knees?"
I would LOVE new knees. But if you have ever known anyone in a similar situation (my mom for example) the surgeons wait until they possibly can. I think 65 is their perfect age. There is so much information on this online, but this is what my doctors have told me. The knees (unlike hips) are not stable joints which adds complications.
1 - the prosthesis can be expected to last around 10 years or so. If you are young when you get it done, this causes a problem. Each subsequent surgery takes more bone from your body.
2 - being obese can quickly wear out the prosthesis.
3 - an artificial knee will never function as fully as a healthy one.

So, I understand that I need to try a whole bunch of other things before I go in for the replacement. I need a better plan which hopefully I will get with Julie now helping me.

Sunday Weigh In
I ate grilled chicken Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night.
Granted, yesterday as a HUGE race day and I ate....five desserts. They were spread out over 10 hours!
Also, the amount of fluid is enormous in my body.
Same as last week. 258.8

The amount of fluid in my body is growing exponentially
It isn't just my left knee now. It is also my right knee.
And, these are my ankles after a day. RIDGES of fluid!
The good news is that my podiatrist, who is also my friend, is going to take control of my pain management and swelling since by surgeons don't even care. Just so annoying.
This is the program she worked out for me tonight:
1 - she is going to have my surgeon prescribe high strength anti-inflamm/pain tablets for 1-2 weeks. This is one tablet a day.
2 - I will also be taking Panadol every day. Up to 8 tablets a day.
3 - compression on as much as I can take.
4 - Stretch exercises 3 times/day to relax the calf muscles
5 - Start seeing the physio to strengthen my knee
6 - Ice whenever it is practical
