Todd has asked the million dollar question - "Why don't I get new knees?"

I would LOVE new knees.  But if you have ever known anyone in a similar situation (my mom for example) the surgeons wait until they possibly can.  I think 65 is their perfect age.  There is so much information on this online, but this is what my doctors have told me.  The knees (unlike hips) are not stable joints which adds complications.

1 - the prosthesis can be expected to last around 10 years or so.  If you are young when you get it done, this causes a problem.  Each subsequent surgery takes more bone from your body.

2 - being obese can quickly wear out the prosthesis.

3 - an artificial knee will never function as fully as a healthy one.

So, I understand that I need to try a whole bunch of other things before I go in for the replacement.  I need a better plan which hopefully I will get with Julie now helping me.
