To Thanksgiving or Not To Thanksgiving....That is the Question

For my first ten years in Australia, we did Thanksgiving. For awhile they were huge, 50 or 60 people. Crazy. And then they got a bit smaller. And then I went to fat camp and decided that I didn't need it at all. The average person consumes more on Thanksgiving than what they could work off running a marathon. A MARATHON! No thank you thanksgiving.

But I just really wanted a piece of pumpkin pie. Really bad. So I was in this dilemma and I broke! I made the pie. I had one piece yesterday and I'll have one today. But lets face it, that is two too many.

Should you sleep or exercise when you have a cold?

The general rule is that I have researched is that if you can take some cold medicine and you are fine, then you can exercise. If your chest is getting a bit bronchial or you have fever, then no, do not exercise. I started out the former and the last few days it has been the latter. I think the fever has broken for the weekend. :) Oh goody.

Sunday Weigh In

Another great week of keeping the holiday good cheer in check and staying to my calories. I lost just under a pound. I am completely tracking to my holiday goal. I did drink one night with clients this week but had a vodka, lime and soda which is a sensible alternative.

The goal is to lose one pound per week until I get to fat camp and I am doing a good job. This was a tough week as I had commitments and I did not feel good. I got a summer cold and am yucky. But I even made it to the Tan today. (Well done to Tazza for joining us.)

Today's weigh in - 232.2

I have not run a 5k in 7 or 8 months

But you have to start with something. Anyone interested in the Sussan Women's Fun Run in 2 weeks. I am sure I will have to walk a very large part of it, but I really feel energised to get out there and get some exercise. This is an expensive one but for a great cause. Women only.

Super nice roommate

I woke up with a nasty cold this morning which means I didn't feel like working out (skip), I don't feel like drinking water (skip) and I don't really feel like eating. (That's a positive!)

Getting home from work, I crawled into bed. My roommate came home and made me super, healthy, super yummy chicken soup.

Thank you!

Delicious!

Andrew found a yummy Vietnamese salad place today.  I think I could have this for lunch everyday.

Sunday Weigh In

WOW! and YEA!
I weighed in 233.2 - almost 2 full pounds from last week.  (Forget you Jenny Craig!!!)
I felt good and trained well.

As a non-caloric reward today, I had a weird craving for a pop. I just don't drink pop anymore. It is terrible for you! A can of pop can clean rust off of metal! What is it doing to your internal organs? With the exception of having an occasional cocktail, I don't drink it anymore.

But, today I had a craving.
And since a can of Diet Pepsi has 1 calorie, I bought it and I drank it. I can still feel the syrupy badness in my throat 3 hours later.

I will definitely be back to water tomorrow but for today, it was very naughty and very refreshing.

Running for some extra cardio

I was able to run for 16 minutes via intervals today which I thought was pretty good. I spent a total of 30 minutes on the treadmill with no real aches and pains, so maybe....I can give it a go again.

Maybe a mini run at Albert Park tomorrow.

I got kicked out of Jenny Craig!

I had my first weigh in at Jenny Craig today and...I lost .4kg which is almost a pound. And, my councelor was disgusted! She informed me for my size, I should easily lose 1.5-2kg the first week. When I explained to her that I have a lot of client coffees, lunches and dinners, she told me I had to make a choice... me and my weight or my company.

What can I say to that?

I actually agree with her, but I am committed to the success of Araza. It was a very tense conversation. I told her that if I lost .4kg every week until Xmas, I would be happy.  She didn't like that either! But I have so many social things on that I really would be happy.

Deep Thoughts by Jenny Craig

On the back of each Jenny Craig box are some words of wisdom and while they won't set your world on fire, there are a few nice reminders to keep you in the zone. I think it is good idea.

Today's reminders were:

 - Double your portion for free! Enjoy a serving of colorful garden salad.
 - Did you Know? Eating across the rainbow is a great way to get a range of nutrients in your diet? So enjoy a wide variety of colored fruit and vegetables, particularly lots of non-starchy free veggies.
 - Food for Thought - Do something today that your future self will thank you for.

Sunday Weigh In

235.00

So, here are my short term goals.

1 - lose 6 pounds BEFORE the end of the year. That is slightly less than a pound per week. My stretch target is to lose 1kg per week (2.2 pounds) so that I can be under 99 again before I go back to fat camp.

2 - Two weeks at fat camp.

3 - I would target losing 4 pounds/week at fat camp which would get me right back on track for the new year.

Next Sunday - 234.

Keeping it together

After our Tan workout, we usually go for brekkie because you absolutely can NOT eat before running hills! While my brekkie's were always nutritious, I was getting sloppy on the calorie counting. Not this weekend!!!!! Not only did I make sure I was well within my calories for breakfast, I finished a 1000ml bottle of water on both mornings and yes, I did a double! I did the hills on both Saturday and Sunday. Is this the prettiest fruit you have ever seen? They call it the red fruit salad. Beautiful and delicious. (Tim also had a super healthy brekkie - good job.)

Am I trying EVERYTHING possible?

While I have been fighting using a food delivery system, I can't deny that I am just not controlling my calorie intake. So, in order to control my calories, I went to Jenny Craig this week to get some packaged meals.

Before you judge, I was/am not excited about chemically enhanced frozen food, but the calories are absolutely controlled and it is taking some of the planning away from me and I really need both of those options right now.

And to bring me back down to reality... the portions are so small!!!
This was my lunch today. Tiny!

But, I can't help think that if I can get in control BEFORE xmas, my new years and my time at fat camp will get back to where I need to be! So, I'm happy with the decision.

Run/Walk

I have started the C25k again and I know I'll be able to get up to running a 5k in a few weeks if I put some energy into it. The thing is, I'm not sure if I really want to do that. I have been exercising without any injuries since I gave up running.

But...running does keep you goal oriented and it is very aerobic.

Now I am thinking that maybe I just do a Run/Walk everytime. Maybe I never just run ever again. I threw this idea at Bryan and he told me of a lady who has run dozens of marathons on a run 5/ walk 1 schedule and she does them in under 4 hours! That is pretty impressive.

Right now, I'm doing 3 minutes on, 1 off and maybe that is it?
Let's see how my legs go.
