Since I am having so much trouble with my food, I am breaking it down. This week, I just want perfect breakfasts. All healthy. All under 300 calories.
Next week I'll move to lunches.
Then by mid month, I should be good to go.

MS 5K
Scab challenged me to get off my bum by signing up for another 5k.
So I did.
And, I did it.
Very cold day in Melbourne but it was a great way to catch up with lovely friends and get my exercise out of the way for the day. Thanks Lisa and Ian and Scab!
BTW - this does not count for my ATW (around the world) 5ks because I already had an Australian race completed. Maybe I need to add in different states/locations as well. Hmmmmmmm....... Something to think about.

NutriBullet!!!!
One of my health goals this week was to get a NutriBullet to help with my breakfasts and lunches. I did my research, made a grocery list and off I went to buy it. Obviously, I didn't do enough research because they are only available online. I didn't let that stop me! I went on Gumtree and found one for sale immediately and went and picked it up. I was on a mission!
Off to the grocery store. My list of ingredients I wanted on hand for maximum vitamins and nutrients was:
Frozen Mango
Frozen Berries
Frozen Broccoli
Frozen Cauliflower
Fresh Broccoli
Fresh Cauliflower
Fresh Cucumber
Fresh Kale (to be frozen)
Fresh Bananas (which will be frozen if they start to go super brown)
Almonds
Chia
Flax
Raw Cacao (no sugar)
Almond Milk
Coconut Milk
You don't need all of this but I really want to experiment and try fun new things. So, I came home tonight to have a smoothie and I threw a whole bunch of stuff into the bullet. It took about 20 seconds to liquify and presto....I had the yuckiest tasting beverage EVER!!!!!!
Moral of the story....there are about a million recipes online. Use them.
Looking forward to giving it a try again tomorrow.

Monday Motivation
I do feel this is a true inspirational quote. It was only when I made my health a priority every day that I made it happen. I recently heard a speaker say "hope is not a marketing plan" and you could say that for weight loss planning as well. "I hope I lost weight this week." Hope is not a plan.
What am I doing to make it happen?
1 - counting calories
2 - watching my quality of calorie
3 - working out
This weeks goals were around the nutribullet (check) and getting more workouts in. So far I am two for two.

Sunday Weigh In...literally
I am officially posting my weight at 231.6 today although when I first woke up, it was at 233. But I think if you are good enough to go and do some exercise and dehydrate your body, you should be able to claim the lack of water in your weight loss.
So, official weigh in - 231.6.
Thoughts?

Intervention accomplished
I asked for help and got it. Scab immediately told me to sign up for a 5k so I did. My friend Ian is running with me and I decided to spend the whole of Sunday working on my eating and health. I will NOT work at all until after 8pm
Action Items:
1 - buy a nutri bullet
I am getting sloppy with my breakfasts again so I thought this might help?
2 - make a list of super healthy meals and do a big grocery shop
3 - plan and freeze meals for the week so there are no excuses
4 - spend some time relaxing instead of working
No friends, no movies, no going out for meals. Just a super healthy Sunday!

I need an intervention
I haven't run since New Zealand.
I haven't been to the gym in over a month.
I am not counting calories.
I am afraid to get on the scale on Sunday.

Nature's candy
One of the many, many things that has been out of control lately is my nighttime sweet. Just like at fat camp, I am allowed a 100 calorie treat or dessert each evening. Usually, it is a Carmel Koala.
Well, like many things when you can't seem to get back on track, I had upped my intake and on many occasions I had been having TWO Carmel Koalas. It is a slippery slope.
Tonight, I still had the sweet tooth, but went for a tangerine instead - nature's candy. It was sweet and delicious. Yes, it is still sugar, but it is also fiber and vitamins. (I still need to study fructose vs glucose.)
I felt very excited about my decision. Sometimes it is just the little things, or maybe it is always the little things.

It pays to click on Facebook links
Sometimes the silliest things come up on Facebook, but I found this link today and it was so good! This lady, Beth, went to a photographer friend BEFORE her bypass surgery and had him take pictures. Two years and 150 pounds later, they got together again for the most creative before and after pictures ever.
My favorite is Frieda and Diego. :)
Most importantly, it is the inspiration of her having the confidence and determination to do it! Very fun!

Well...this sums it up! What a good statistic to track - the amount of time I spend on iphone applications vs my workout time each day!

Country #3 - New Zealand
An absolutely stunning morning in Auckland and perfect for a run - sunny and in the low 60s. [18*] I had a bit of trouble finding the race this morning as the park was enormous but eventually, I got there in time for my race. I knew as soon as we lined up, that I would be the slow one. Most of these women were in a running club trying to get times to qualify or prepare for larger races. Oh well...slow and steady.
The one thing I forgot about was....Auckland = hills! What was I thinking? I know that Auckland is a hilly city but it just didn't dawn on me, until I was midway up the first hill thinking...how many more of these? Answer is two; one medium and one huge. What really helped was the AWESOME NZ playlist I had - thanks to all my friends I really plowed through this run with 44 minutes, but I was last by a long way and was lapped by three women doing the 10k.
The great thing when you are waaaaaaaaay last in a race, is that every single race marshall cheers for you, talks to you and encourages you so it is nice to have your own cheer squad.
It was a hard one but it was beautiful and fun.
Thanks Auckland!

My NZ race prep
WOW!!!! First of all, I am absolutely BLOWN away with the Pookeys and girls! Here is the race "good luck" I received!
On top of that, through everyone's suggestion, my play list is so awesome! I can't wait to run tomorrow morning! Really looking forward to it and wish everyone was here!
I have had a seriously great day in Auckland today. The modern art museum was really good and then I saw the Cobain documentary, so I have put a little Nirvana on my playlist for tomorrow as well. One more day....

Preparation for NZ begins!
The next 5k is New Zealand next weekend - I am excited to check it off the list.
In order to make the most of my Kiwi running experience, I need a Kiwi playlist for my race.
The only Kiwi song I currently have is Shark Attack by the Split Enz.
No, I am not big on Crowded House - particularly for running.
So, for my Kiwi Play List please send me a song from NZ.
Or...that has a Kiwi in the band.
Or...if you yourself are Kiwi, just send me a song that you like.
Or...if you like a Kiwi or are friends with a Kiwi, just send me a song.
Basically, everyone send me a great running song.
BTW - It will be very difficult to top the Singapore Play List which was awesome and I am still using.
Don't forget - I basically only use songs that I like and know otherwise it is too difficult to run.
