Surround yourself with people who believe you can

I am really reaching out to my friends. Do not be surprised if I ask you for help with my food, or workout or just talking through weight issues. I am not coming back to Melbourne after Xmas and continuing on this path of ssssssssllllllllooooooowwwwww weight gain. I will do whatever it takes to lose this weight. That is scary thoughts but it is getting done.

Or, don't wait. Send me an email and tell me how you can support me. I need support!

Sunday Weigh In

WOW! Did all my socializing catch up with me this week!
WOW!
Did I say WOW?

I weighed a number I never, ever, ever thought I would weight again. 238.2.  I am creeping so close to 240 and I am not even suppose to be in the 230s!!!! The good news is that I am done with all of my social commitments. I have a few days left and then back to the States.

Super Healthy Meals

Andrew and I ate the paleo plate at brunch this morning. Super healthy and no processed food or carbs. Dinner tonight was also super healthy. I made a beautiful salmon. So, why can't I do this every day?

Ooops. What did I say about desserts?

Yes, this is what I had a TGIFridays. I am in so much trouble!!!! For whatever reason, I simply had to have this crazy, huge, calorie-ridden dish of wonderful. But, at least I still took the picture and owned up to it. But it doesn't save me the 1000 calories I ate.

How do you manage your desserts?

I had a great day today and wanted one of my small desserts which is usually a small carmello koalo which is 95 calories. Tonight when I went to the store I saw the box of Tim Tams and really, really, really wanted one or two. But, I know what will happen if I buy a box of Tim Tams.  There are 14 cookies in the box and I would eat about 10 before getting sick.

I definitely would eat 10. Maybe eat all 14.

So, in order to get the dessert I wanted and control my calories, I bought the full box, took out two cookies and threw the rest down the garbage shute. This is an expensive but effective way to have my cake and eat it too!

Weekend Warrior

Still sprinting the Tan every weekend. This weekend it was just Tim and me. In the rain. In the cold, sideways rain. Well done to us. A rep is:
1 sprint up the Swan St steps
10 squats
10 pushups
10 lunges
30 sec plank
10 jumping jacks
We do 4 reps. It doesn't sound hard, does it. :)

Tim suggested today that we up it to 5 reps in the new year. EEEKKK!!!!

Diet Coach

Through Margie, I have been introduced to Jay Jacobs who was on the Biggest Loser TV show. Margie met him through fat camp. He has a 13 week coaching program and I signed up for it as it was only $47 and why not get some new ideas and advice?

It started on Monday and the first video talked about the benefits of being aware and conscious of what you are eating. So, he is having us take a picture of everything we eat. And, when you think about it, take a pic or video of yourself.

After only a few days, I am finding it fascinating. Right away I can see I am not eating enough fruit and veg. Now to incorporate those changes back into the diet. I am really enjoying his take on a few different ideas.

TED Talks

I try to go on TED once a week but sometimes a few weeks go by before I can watch one or two new TED talks. Who am I kidding? Once you watch one, you need to watch about ten more!

Today, one of the highlighted talks grabbed my attention, "Why Some People Find Exercise Harder Than Others." Now this is one I had to watch. While it wasn't the most gripping talk, the researcher argues that if you:
1 - keep goals managable and short term
2 - keep your eyes on the prize, only focus on that goal
you'll find that exercising will be easier.

The next one was so depressing. She is a neuroscientist who tells us that the brain's set weight for our body can go up but it can not go down. So, if I agree with her, my body, for the rest of my life will be trying to get back to 272! I can't even think about it!

I think this guy was saying I should only have thin, fit friends. But...I'm not quite sure. :)

But this is the one that made me smile the most. Eat healthy and you will change your cells including your brain.
