veggies and fruit first

I am trying to eat my fruit and veg as the first part of my meal so that I get the healthy bits done first and then I know I am doing well on my micro nutrients.  But, it just seems like I am eating a lot more calories.  I still eat my full meals so I am now eating extra calories.  Do I care?  If it is the right calories, it is ok to overeat?  I can't decide.  I need to eat the fruit and veg and then cut down on my main meal but that is not how I roll!  I need to make it how I roll.

I ate this full bowl of fruit and then STILL had eggs, toast and avo.  It is just too much food.
