The Biggest Loser - Sarah

I had lunch with Sarah today.  One of the Biggest Loser contestants from this past season.   http://www.nbc.com/the-biggest-loser/photos/sarahs-finale-before-and-after/7828#item=176646

She is gorgeous, I can't imagine her being big.  Anyway, she said she had the same problem on the show that I have.  All of my friends are burning more calories per hour with a higher heart rate.  So, she had to exercise longer.  Due to my ankles and knee, I am going to add another hour onto my day.  If I add another hour, 5 times a week, I will lose another .3 of a pound.

That doesn't seem right, does it?

  1. You should definitely add the hour if you can, what the hell are you going to do there?? :) Do as much as you can as long as you, and soon you'll be addicted to it. That strategy works for beer too.

  2. I agree with Todd!!!
Seriously though - this could have to do with starting weight/metabolism or even your starting fitness levels. You mentioned a lot of the people there have more weight to lose, right? I've read that in the beginning, the more weight there is, the quicker it goes...but then at some point, the plateau arrives. So maybe the other people's loss will slow down as they start to lose more weight. Also - if your heart rate doesn't go as high as others, it may actually be a sign that you are fitter or have a better 'engine'. Pretty sure this is why pro athletes can sustain a much higher intensity of workout load. But it might be worth asking the experts there!! In any case, add the hour - add Todd says, what the hell else do you have to do there?!? - Kelly
