Finally did something

So... no running, no walking, no pilates. Nothing that involves my knee. So this morning, I went back to the pool. I really don't like swimming that much but I will admit that I did enjoy the swim. I think it is just getting wet and everything seems like a hassle. But I did get a workout in and I am really happy to just have got a bit of activity in after weeks of doing nothing.

What is going on?

So the one thing I was looking forward to doing was Pilates. I figured since it wasn't aerobic, I would be able to do the exercise. Well, I was wrong. I got to the Pilates place last night and was told that there was no way I could do it. And after watching them, the instructor was right. It was the equivalent of about 100 squats!

The only exercise left is super, dooper, the most crappiest of all....swimming.
So, excuse the bad hair days that are about to happen.
I have to start swimming. Grrrrr........

Second time's a charm

It turns out the Australia does have phone counselors for weight watchers to keep me on my toes. But, it just isn't as good.
It is 10 minutes instead of 15.
You don't get to choose your person.

But, WHO CARES? I am on a downwards out of control spiral!

I'm signed up but they haven't called yet. I hope they are ok.

Four days without sugar!

Since I can't do any cardio, I am trying to really control my diet. I have officially gone four days without dessert and I think that is the longest in a very long time. Even at fat camp we have dessert every night.  After dinner I have been having a Chobani so while I am not sugar free, I am eating healthy protein which is much better than empty sugar calories.

Kicked out of WW

I mentioned that I was getting an online councilor. Well, I joined the Weight Watchers program. Not to follow their program but it was a very good price to get some weekly accountability.

I signed up.
I scheduled my councilng session.
I was advised they can't make international calls.

So, after one day....kicked out. Grrrrrr.....

Then I signed up for Pilates and all the classes are full. I can't get in until next Tuesday!

Trying to be good is hard!

help and help and help and....

I am surrounding myself with help to get back on track:

 - have contacted gym to get back to classes
 - have contacted trainer (twice/week to start)
assuming I can't run or do anything with my knee, I will still be able to do upper body
 - looked into Pilates classes
 - have appointment with knee surgeon
 - scheduled time with nutritionist

Right now my problem is shoving food in my mouth. But I am less likely to overeat when I exercise. Lastly I am hoping the nutritonist will be able to encourage me.

Sunday Weigh In

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.
I have officially GAINED 7 pounds in the past 7 weeks!!!!! I am going crazy with my eating.
I am trying to stay positive and since it is my birthday weekend, just remember that I have kept 30 pounds off. Of course, that means I have put 24 on!

Grrrr..........

A little light and a little habit

I have been looking for a way to get my mojo back and I read a great book today that I LOVED. I think I bought it last year and left it on my bookshelf. It is called, "Mini Habits: Smaller Habits, Bigger Results."

The author suggests that intention must have action or it becomes harmful (I agree) and people over-estimate their self-control (I agree).

He suggests that the best way to form new, positive habits is to start with mini habits that are silly small. He also recommends that you do no more than four at a time otherwise you are working on too many things. I came up with 18 new mini habits I want to incorporate into my day but I picked the four I want to start immediately while I am on my holiday. I will do these for the next 10 days to get back into a groove.

 - 1 push up per day
 - 1 sit up per day
 - weigh in each day
 - leave 1 bite of food on my plate each meal

The weigh in should be able to be replaced with a new mini goal once I am back home. I immediately made a chart for me to use as a tracker and a visualisation and completed my first day.

The more I thought about it, I think spending time on my smaller, daily activities was a key to my success when I was losing weight. I am really excited to try this and to get into a positive mindset.

Sunday Weigh In

I did some research and it is true....if you don't do any exercise AND you eat whatever you want...you will gain weight. I am a weight I NEVER thought I would be again. I hit 240 today and I was sick.
I have two weeks before going back to Australia.
I am determined to be back in the 230s and feeling healthy.

My jeans don't fit

I had to lay down on my bed to zip my jeanskirt. That has not happened in a long time. Grrrr.....
