Bum kick

Does it count as exercise if you play tennis and lose 6-0, 6-0? Did I even burn any calories in that bum kicking that took place? At least, I did get out on a very nice night and walk to the courts, so that counts for something.

Lots of Practice

Every day I am getting better at practicing my success. I am still on Day 1 of the 30 day ab challenge. But, I did it. I am still practicing my boy pushups, but I did them. I am eating better and feeling better. I had to miss my workout this morning but still did a mini workout after work. If I keep practicing, I'll be GREAT!

1/2 the calories

I have solved my burger problem. Since a TGIFriday's cheeseburger (WITHOUT fries) = one days total calorie intake, I am still allowed to go to Fridays, and get the veggie burger with salad. Half of the calories, but still delicious.

Not quite there...yet

I tried to run a full 5k today and had to stop twice. I am really close but part of it was mental and part was dehydration and the hot weather. But, it will be hot for the Singapore race, so I just need to buckle down and do it.

Sunday Weigh In

Some call it cheating but I call it running my fat off!!!!!
I weighed in AFTER my run this morning and it was hot so I know the extra was water weight, but....I had a really good week this week and I am proud of myself.

229.8!!!!!!!!

I haven't been in the 220s since 6 April 2014!!!!!!
I am so happy with myself!

Credit where credit is due

I won't lie and say that I was perfect at the races, but I was fairly good considering it is an all day eating and drinking festival. I ate steak and salad with no alcohol. I did have a dessert which was a cream with fruit. And I did have two chocolates with my tea, but....look at how many chocolates I left on the plate! That would have NEVER happened in the past! EVER! So, I wasn't perfect, but I was good. And I had a great day. :)

Running, Not Running

So, I am only running about once a week and I haven't completed 4km yet, so I am wondering if I am going to be able to complete a hot 5km once I am in Singapore.

I have signed up for two 5kms.

8 March - Singapore, Venus Run.  That is only 3 weeks away!
22 March - Melbourne, Run for the Kids.  I didnt realise it was in March.  I thought it was in April!

I don't think I am getting enough training.
And what is my next race going to be?
And is the running helping my weight loss?

Hidden Calories

By now, I should realise that you can't always guess the calories of a food item, particularly desserts. But, I thought I knew it all! I have been studying calories for thirty years! So, when I was looking for a small treat, I grabbed this little box of mini shortbread cookies. They are mini so they should be ok, right?


I was having two or three at a time.  I figured they were about 50-60 calories each so three of them would equal one of my small desserts. (Normally, I would always check the calories, but there was no calorie count so I just guessed.)

I am doing a really good job of tracking and keeping to my calorie commitments, so I scanned the bar code into My Fitness Pal and guess what each little mini butter cookie is? 150 calories each! So I was eating 450 calories each time!  That is 1/3 of my daily calorie intake!
So, into the garbage bin!
Done.

Obstacle 30 day challenge

I'm not making excuses, but I am just saying...it is difficult to do the 30 Day Ab Challenge when every time you get on the ground to do the exercises, your dog climbs up on your tummy. And she does. Everytime.

How am I doing on the challenge. Good but definitely not perfect.


The idea is that everyday you start small and progressively add to your workout. Day one is 15 situps, 5 crunches, 5 leglifts and 10 seconds of plank. So, my idea was that I would do Day 1 workout for week one.  Day 2 workout for week two....etc. If I keep going, it will take me 24 weeks, but at the end, I would be doing:

125 situps
200 crunches
65 leg raises
120 second plank.... EVERY DAY! Wouldn't that be amazing?

Well, after doing it only one day, I got very sick and stopped last week. Normally, I would just wait until next month and start again, but this month I just picked up where I left off. I love it! Who cares if there are some blank days? I am still in week 1 but my tummy is feeling it. I just need to remember I don't need to be perfect, just keep practicing.

Sunday Weigh In

I knew it was going to be a bad week so I am not letting this get me down, I am just figuring out what I can do today to be better.

I was so sick earlier in the week and then I entertained the rest of the week. Big meals. Alcohol.

Todays weight is 235.6.  I am up 3.4 pounds.

I shopped today for healthy food and prepped my fridge full of good food.
I am calling a nutritionist today.
I am calling for a coach today.
I want to get better.

I'm registered for my first 5k of the year!

I originally made a goal of 5 5ks for 2015 to get me back running. And then, I came up with the idea of doing 5 5ks in 5 countries. While it is a bit wanky, I thought, "this will really make it fun." It makes it expensive, but fun. :)

I just signed up for the Venus Run.  An all women's run in Singapore in celebration of International Women's Day! Now, I've got one month to up my training.

Sunday Weigh In

I weighed in before and after exercise this morning. I'll take the AFTER number. :)

I exercised.
I wee-ed.
I blew my nose - anything I could do to weigh less on the scale.

I weighed in at 232.2 so I lost 1.6pounds this week.
I get flowers!  YEA!!!

I want February to be AWESOME!
