Sunday Weigh In

I can't even describe what is happening to me right now.  I have GAINED 11.6 pounds in the past month!!!!!  It is like my body has found an express route to gaining weight.  This is crazy.  I have gained back almost all of my fat camp weight in just two months.  I am not eating an extra 1500-3000 calories per day!  What can I commit to this week?  Almost all of my meals are eating out.  This is ok.
1 - no alcohol
2 - breakfast at home if not a client brekkie (my protein shake)

Todd has asked the million dollar question - "Why don't I get new knees?"

I would LOVE new knees.  But if you have ever known anyone in a similar situation (my mom for example) the surgeons wait until they possibly can.  I think 65 is their perfect age.  There is so much information on this online, but this is what my doctors have told me.  The knees (unlike hips) are not stable joints which adds complications.

1 - the prosthesis can be expected to last around 10 years or so.  If you are young when you get it done, this causes a problem.  Each subsequent surgery takes more bone from your body.

2 - being obese can quickly wear out the prosthesis.

3 - an artificial knee will never function as fully as a healthy one.

So, I understand that I need to try a whole bunch of other things before I go in for the replacement.  I need a better plan which hopefully I will get with Julie now helping me.

Sunday Weigh In

I ate grilled chicken Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night.
Granted, yesterday as a HUGE race day and I ate....five desserts.  They were spread out over 10 hours!
Also, the amount of fluid is enormous in my body.
Same as last week.  258.8

The amount of fluid in my body is growing exponentially

It isn't just my left knee now.  It is also my right knee.
And, these are my ankles after a day.  RIDGES of fluid!

The good news is that my podiatrist, who is also my friend, is going to take control of my pain management and swelling since by surgeons don't even care.  Just so annoying.

This is the program she worked out for me tonight:
1 - she is going to have my surgeon prescribe high strength anti-inflamm/pain tablets for 1-2 weeks.  This is one tablet a day.
2 - I will also be taking Panadol every day.  Up to 8 tablets a day.
3 - compression on as much as I can take.
4 - Stretch exercises 3 times/day to relax the calf muscles
5 - Start seeing the physio to strengthen my knee
6 - Ice whenever it is practical
