Monday Motivation

I honestly believe that if I continue to follow a plant based diet, my body will respond with weight loss, healthy arteries, healthier me.  I believe!

Monday Motivation

I am falling in love with learning new things about plant based eating at the moment.  Just watched another doco on cancer and heart disease prevention.  Super intersting.  And scary.

Wedding Update

Here are all the good things from the wedding and it wasn't difficult at all:

 - did not have any appetisers from waiters with trays (no vegan option)
 - did not have any alcohol (just not in the mood - it was cold out)
 - let a full dessert tray go by and not tempted at all
 - the wedding cake tray was filled with cake and after my initial tastes, not intersted
 - danced, danced, danced

Good night.

Monday Motivation

Sing it sister!
If I keep up a 1/2 pound per week pace, I will be very happy.
The funny thing is that my first week of fat camp (ever) they asked if we would be happy with 25 pounds a year and every person in the room said no.  But if I had done that...I would currently be at my 149 goal for several years already.

Sunday Weigh In

So...yeah.  I don't have a weigh in.  Andrew and Lam got married this weekend so I was out of town.
I can report that I had a great week.
Still no meat.
A few pats of butter, milk and a bit of cream today as a cheat.  Proving once again that diary is my bed bug and not so much the meat.

I'm excited to weigh in tomorrow. :)

Weight for the year

Just out of curiosity, I wanted to know my lowest weight of the year.  And it is 258.1 on 21 January 2019.  So in general, I have been up this year.
I would like to end the year under 258.  That is my new goal.

Motivated to...walk

I get very bored walking.
I don't like walking.
I am not interested in walking.

I have FINALLY been given the go ahead by my physio to start walk/running again.
BTW - he could NOT BELIEVE how ALL of my swelling is gone from my plant based diet.  GONE.

I was telling Heather how bored I get and she suggested saving my FAVORITE podcast for my walks.  Then it becomes a treat. So I did that and it does seem like a treat. It worked.
It was Real Time BTW.

My swelling is gone

After giving up meat and diary, I did not notice any changes.  And then I looked down after a few days AFTER HAVING SIX INTERNATIONAL flights and my knees and ankles have absolutely no swelling.

My ankles and my knees are completely normal.  Or...as normal as can be.  I have no swelling anywhere.  I am so interested in other changes that could be happening in my body.  How do you know?  Well, I just had my bloods done a few weeks ago so I would like to have them done in a few more months just to see what happens.  How else can I measure?  My weight.
How else???

Monday Motivation

I am not saying I am vegan or plant based eating.
I say...I am trying to eat as plant based as possible.

Sunday Weigh In

I am really  happy to report that I weighed in on 262.8.
I have done no exercise in 3 weeks.
I have been logging my food but really, my only change is my concentration on plant based food.

I am eating a LOT of carbs.  I need to concentrate on more veggies and fruits but I am good.
Obviously.

Plant based diet

I watched ANOTHER movie on plant based eating and yes - I am now officially trying to eat 100% plant based.  The Game Changers just came out and completely confirmed everything in Diet Fiction.  One of the things that resonated was how meat causes inflammation.  That is one of my big issues!  It is so bad for all my arthritis.  I also have it in my knees and ankles.  So, if it keeps me pain free it is worth trying!   Let's see what happens?!

Monday Motivation

This week's motivation?  ICELAND!
I leave today for a week trip to see the northern lights.

My motivation is that I am grateful I can take a trip like this and walk.
At this point I have no issue with my ankles and knees.  Yea!  And fingers crossed.

Sunday Weigh In

I feel good today and I weighed in at 264.4.  This was down three pounds from last week!
I'm only walking but maybe more?

Heather said I should only listen to podcasts that I love when I walk so then walking will become a treat.  GAH!

Funny Friday

It seriously does take a lot of work to look normal/chubby.
Not a lie.

Inspirational?

I know I will never be the size I was when I was 24 years old.
I do know that.
But I found these pictures this weekend and I am just wondering, is it helpful to post pictures that you know are unattainable?  Forget the shoulder pads and rollerblades, I know that I felt thin and healthy at both of these points in my life.  So maybe, yes?

Both pics make me happy and sad.
I'm not sure????

Plant based diet

Paula had me watch this doco on Prime this week. It's call Diet Fiction.  They are promoting a plant based diet.

I thought it had a lot of interesting points.  The two things that really stood out is:
1 - Why do we keep eating fat and think we will get thin?  (meat and diary)
2 - quality of calorie absolutely counts

I have waxed poetic about quality of calorie FOREVER.  Their comment was research that proves otherwise is for short amounts of time.

On top of everything else, I am going to try and have meat only one meal a day.
And, one meal a day plant based. :)

Just going next door to the 7/11 there were interesting options.
I grabbed this frozen non dairy ice cream.  I'll blog when I finally try it.

Then for dinner this week, I grabbed some dal and brown rice.

The easiest thing would be oatmeal with almond milk for brekkie.  Easy plant based option.
But I did look at the menu at all the restaurants I went to this weekend just to check out the options. And then ordered steak.
I really did. :)
