NOT a weigh in day

I am weighing every day and although today is not a reporting today, it is official... I LOST 1.5 POUNDS ON VACATION!

I am really proud of myself.  When I was on a vacation night, I treated myself.
Anytime I had treats, I tried to share or just take a bite of the girls dessert.

And, on the normal days, I went to the gym. (Almost every day.)
I diligently kept to my weights routine.

Yea me!

5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!!! and Sunday Weigh In

It was five years ago today that I made my way to Ivins Utah to fat camp.  It really has changed by life. If you had told that Victoria that I would still be struggling and not close to my goal weight, I would have been very, very depressed.

But I am so proud of myself.
Re-reading those early blog posts are eye opening.  It is also inspiring.

But most of all, I am really proud of myself. Yes I have gained back some of the weight, but five years later, I am exactly 26 pounds thinner than I was when I was 43.  I weighed in today at 246.8.  I have kept this off for five years and that is to be celebrated!

I think this is going to be a great year.
I have some awesome tools and fantastic goals.

Happy Birthday Davey!

Last weekend we went on a roadtrip with my friends Rick and Dave.  Davey is a long time advocate of great health and taking care of yourself.  He is also a "I Want Candy" blog reader AND today is his bday!  Happy happy!

Anyway....

We stopped for some lunch at an absolute institution - Krolls.  My mom and dad went there as teenagers. I have been eating there my whole life and truly crave the food.  It is burgers, fries, chili and malts. Or if I order...cheeseburger with everything and cheese curds.


So imagine my shock when Dave announced he thought he would get a wrap.?.?.?.?  I didn't even know that Krolls had a wrap on the menu!!!!




Later that night we stopped for a classic fish fry and Dave ordered his fish broiled instead of fried. The question becomes, do you enjoy healthy food or do you order it because you want to for your health?  Dave's response was, "I look for the healthiest thing on the menu and that is what I order."

It was an absolute lightbulb moment.
It never dawned on me to not look for the thing you want or the thing that sounds good or even the thing I should eat - just look for the healthiest thing.

We went for breakfast yesterday and I pretended to be Dave.
I ended up with an egg white and chicken sausage scramble.  It was delicious!

Sunday Weigh In

It is no surprise that my holiday of being good one day, bad the next is not getting me any sustained weight loss.  I weighed in at a hefty 247.8 and more frightening....looked in the mirror and really saw a person I hadn't seen in a few years.  I really can't hide this weight gain anymore.

I know I will have a good week because it I have nothing social and am only concentrating on my weight this week.  Then the plane ride home.......

Am I losing my balance or just not paying attention?

When was the last time you tripped and fell?
Well...I did it TWICE yesterday? That is crazy, right?

The first time was getting on the ferry boat at Statue of Liberty. It was very uneven and rocking but still.  I landed right on my dreaded left knee.  I was scraped, sore and embarrassed.

FIVE HOURS LATER as we are walking down Broadway, I am walking on uneven pavement and drop to my left knee AGAIN!!!!!

It is scraped up pretty bad but all I keep thinking about is my knee problems and what damage am I causing????

It is VERY SORE but the skin is sore - my knee seems pretty good and I am very thankful.

But hopefully I am done with the crazy falls.  (embarrassing and painful!!!!)

I know I am on vacation, but the amount and QUALITY of calorie could be at an all time low!

Cheese fries
Onion rings
Fried mac and cheese
Nachos















and of course...high tea on my birthday so sugar, sugar, sugar.

The scale will tell the truth tomorrow.

Happy Monday

Happy Birthday!!!!!!
WOW!
I'm really excited that I am healthy and happy on this day.



I am asking everyone to motivate ME today. :)
As a present,  I would like everyone to send me a birthday or motivation meme.  There are a lot of good ones out there so it shouldn't be too difficult.

Today is probably a really, really good day to discuss goals.  So, here they are:

 - Long term goal
TWO YEARS from today I will turn 50.
I am absolutely committed to be healthier, fitter and happier at 50 than I was at 30 or 40.
I have 100 pounds to lose in two years - that is tough but not impossible.

 - Short term goal
Go back to Australia with 5 pounds GONE.
And still enjoy my bday and NYC.

More goals to come but I want to do some serious planning.

Ahhhh....Rockys

Back to the little Wisconsin town for a holiday break so back to Rocky's gym.  They welcomed me back right away (remembered me) and I started on my routine.

My goal is to go to the gym EVERY DAY while I am in Delavan.
So, this does not count my time in NYC - that is a 5 day break.

I am planning on doing weights every other day with cardio.
Just cardio on the alternating day.
