Here is my idea. What do you think?

You know that doing a half marathon has been on my list for a very long time.  I can't run due to my knee.  While I was on the elliptical machine a few days ago, I got an idea.

What if I do a half marathon on the elliptical?
Would I still get the fireman, in a tuxedo with a box from Tiffany?

I think it would take me about 4 hours on the elliptical to do 13.1 mile/21 kms.
Different friends could come and work out with me at different times.  :)
4 hours is a long time.

I mentioned this to my friend Ant, and he felt I should do about 6 hours on the machine to get the treat.  But, why???  Thats just arbitrary. Running the half should take me about 3 hours so I am already going longer.
Running has different pace and stride.
The machine would be the same motion for 4 hours which would be more difficult as well.

I do think I should be able to take "break" and get on the treadmill for 1km at a time and then get back on the ellptical.

So....what do you think?
I have no idea how long it would take to get the momentum up but I think I could do it by June or July?  I'll need to assess.

  1. I think that's a super idea and I wish I could come and do a couple of hours with you. I do 45 minutes on the elliptical and can go 4 miles, but it is a cross country circuit so the resistance goes from 3 up to 9 and reverses direction every 10 minutes. I can go faster with great music to listen to. I think the treadmill is harder on knees than the elliptical. You go girl.
