Monday Motivation

The old Nike ads which you know I love!  I really like this one because, once again, it is so true!  I am the only limit to doing the things I want to do.

Sunday Weigh In

I had a good week with a little too much entertaining on Friday and Saturday, but down 1.2 pounds for the week.  I will keep up the good diet and must find some more group activity to get me out of the house and working out.

Lets do some math

Instead of doing a half marathon on the elliptical, Paula has suggested that I walk one.
Obviously, I can walk a half.  I could do it today but my body would not be happy in recovery.

13.1 miles = 21 km

If I do the Melbourne Marathon Half there would be a time limit. It is 6 hours.  I could TOTALLY do that.  Four miles per hour so I should be done within four hours.  IF I would do a walk one, run one, it wouldn't be that much faster because I am such a slow runner but that isn't even up for discussion at this point.

15 October so I have 7.5 months.  According to the website - 230 days to go!

I COMMIT TODAY TO DOING THE MELBOURNE MARATHON HALF WALKING ONLY!!!!!!!!!!

Who is organising the fireman?
Who is organising the tuxedo?
Let's get on it!!!!!!

Treat yourself to fruit or how to spend $12 for what?!?!?!?!

I had another super successful shopping trip.  I literally did not go down one aisle - I just did a loop on the outside.  Just fresh produce, diary and protein and straight to the checkout. But, I bought a LOT of fruit and veg. And Andrew is on holiday so this is just for me for a week!

What is in here?

Fruit -
Cherries
Blackberries
Kiwi
Bananas
Watermelon
Mangos
Plums
Lemon
Lime
Avocado

Veg -
Three different lettuce
Potato
Zucchini
Three different capsicum (peppers)
Mushrooms
Corn on the Cob
Tomatoes on the vine
Mini tomatos

And the killer?  $12 for two grapefruit from the USA.  They better be good!

I have salmon, chicken and steak.
Milk and almond milk.
No artificial sugar.
No boxed foods.
No carbs except the potatoes, but I will prepare rice and pasta.

I feel very positive about this cart!

I hurt in a good way

I need to stay committed to my gym schedule.  I am so close to going down another level to do my boy push up.  I have been working on this for almost two years!  With the help of my personal trainer, I did an ok one on what we call level 2.  This is probably about 12" to the ground.  I'm very excited.

Here is my idea. What do you think?

You know that doing a half marathon has been on my list for a very long time.  I can't run due to my knee.  While I was on the elliptical machine a few days ago, I got an idea.

What if I do a half marathon on the elliptical?
Would I still get the fireman, in a tuxedo with a box from Tiffany?

I think it would take me about 4 hours on the elliptical to do 13.1 mile/21 kms.
Different friends could come and work out with me at different times.  :)
4 hours is a long time.

I mentioned this to my friend Ant, and he felt I should do about 6 hours on the machine to get the treat.  But, why???  Thats just arbitrary. Running the half should take me about 3 hours so I am already going longer.
Running has different pace and stride.
The machine would be the same motion for 4 hours which would be more difficult as well.

I do think I should be able to take "break" and get on the treadmill for 1km at a time and then get back on the ellptical.

So....what do you think?
I have no idea how long it would take to get the momentum up but I think I could do it by June or July?  I'll need to assess.

Some delicious food

I had to share the most wonderful lunch I had today.  It was a cold salmon withe orange and grapefruit segments.  So easy.  Throw a few capes, onion and dill on top and it was just delicious.

But it doesn't have to be super fancy.  I had a bowl of mango for dessert and it was yum-o!!!!

Ummmmm.......yeah!

I got to see Bruce Springsteen last weekend and I couldn't believe how fit he was for being 67 years old.  He was on fire (pun intended) for three hours!  You could tell he was in great shape.

I was telling my friend and she sent me this picture.  This is fairly recent.

Time to give up the excuses!!!!
The BOSS is RIPPED and 67 years old!

Time to get inspired!

TRACKER!

I hit 400 days this week on My Fitness Pal.

I don't get the full day done, but for me, the important thing is that it ensures I start my breakfast out super healthy every day.  I know I will track my brekkie and get on track.

I have stopped putting in the workouts because I am treating them like the cherry on top.
What if in 400 more days, I have my goal?
AMAZING!

Sunday Weigh In

I simply didn't believe what the scale told me last week so I kept on going.  I was rewarded with a 1.4 pound weight loss this week.  I am using the scale for measurement but for the first time, it is not ruling my program.  I am continuing every day just adding more fruit and veg to my diet.

MOVE!

I still haven't been to the gym since I've been back.  At first it was because I had the wretched cold.  Now it is because I am so sunburnt from the weekend.  Nothing can touch my arms or shoulders.

I have booked in with the trainer Saturday and Sunday this weekend so that should help.

The 12week challenge starts Monday and I guess that is one hour of exercise every day!  HARSH!

I'll need to get creative.
And get over my cold.
And stay out of the sun.
