The Diet Myth

I had two people tell me to read "The Diet Myth" in one week and I have to say I am a little fascinated by it. It is yet ANOTHER book that tells us another thing wrong with out diets. What is really bad for us? The professor doesn't actually give you a diet to follow but does research basically all other diets.

The thing that intrigues me is that he states from the beginning that "evidence shows that we all respond differently to the same foods." This has been troubling me forever and if anyone is obese, you know you have seen this first hand. It is maddening.

The author, Tim Spector, believes it has to do with the health of your gut. I don't know if everything he says is true,  but I have been eating yogurt like a mad woman all week. Also trying to get as much variety as possible.

As it is a long weekend, I plan on reading the whole book in a few days, but it is interesting to read a few of the articles out there right now.

Best gym buddy ever

I needed an extra bit of motivation so who came with us to run hills?  SUGAR! Best workout buddy ever. I made it up 5 times today but walking only.  Still taking it very easy on my knee.

Said Victoria Never....

Went to the gym with the boys this morning and guess what? We were too early! We were there BEFORE the gym even opened! First time for everything. :)

So, we went for a pre-workout coffee.

It's Thursday

So, I actually got up this morning and did a treading session for 20 minutes. It is the first time I have worked out in months. The Berlin 5k was my last great effort. It felt really great to be back in it.

Where is the reality check?

I missed the call with my weight counselor AGAIN this week. What a bust. If you miss the call, there are no do overs. And, I am always on the phone.

I have decided that that is not my problem anyway. My problem is shoving food in my mouth! EEEK.

Sunday Weigh In

I haven't weighed this much in four years. I weighed in at 245! I am putting on 1-2 pounds a week at this point. I am really not doing well. It is so hard to take off and so easy to put on.

I'm back to doing travel for work and I have to say that I had a pretty good day today.

Airport breakfast - yogurt with granola and a tea
Flight -just tea
Lunch - sandwich
Arvo - tea
Dinner - small pasta on the plane (really small pasta)
Home - tea, crackers, cheese

No real fruit and only a wee bit of veg so there is room for improvement.  But pretty good.

Steptember is killing me

At 6:30 tonight I only had 8000 steps in and I had to go to a client dinner.  The dinner didn't get done until 10:30. What to do? I walked home from the junction in my workshoes at night in the drizzling rain! UGH!  Steptember is just too hard!!!!

Steptember

Even though walking is not very comfortable at the moment, I have joined a Steptember team and am committing to walking 10000 steps every day. I may have to start walking home from work. Lets see how it goes....
